La Grande Opera in Villa – Tosca celebrates the meeting point between opera, heritage and refined living in one of Ticino’s most evocative settings.

Held at Castello di Morcote on 14 October 2025, the event presented Tosca, the masterpiece by Giacomo Puccini, in an adaptation inspired by the Opéra-Comique tradition. This format brings opera closer to the audience through a more intimate and immersive experience, combining music, theatre, narration and atmosphere beyond the conventional stage.

La Grande Opera in Villa was born in 2020 from an idea by Alberto Uva within the cultural project Arte&Cultura Villa Sormani. The project also connects with a wider cultural context: on 6 December 2023, the practice of Italian opera singing was officially recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
